"Who needs copywriters these days, eh?"

Dawn

Everyone, frankly. Every bit of communication on the web, in the papers, in social media, in fact, just about any kind of communication, needs to be well written.

And anyone who tells you that communication is getting increasingly visual has been walking round with their eyes closed.

Yes, the way we communicate with each other has changed utterly in the past five years, never mind the last ten.

But the biggest new media - text messaging, Facebook and Twitter - have made words and the way you use them more powerful and important than ever. Never mind the fact that three of the biggest cultural phenomena in the world recently have been books - Harry Potter, Twilight and Fifty Shades. (All of them series, too.)

So next time someone says “We don't need a writer on this one” just say “Yes we do.”

And tell them you know where to find a good one.

"What's this got to do with anything?" I hear you ask. Well there's a trend for using images that have a barely tangential relationship to the concept, and often leave you scratching your head. So I thought I'd join in. There is a (really weak) point to it, other than that it's a nice pic. Any thoughts? Answers on a virtual postcard to denniscopy@btinternet.com and I’ll think of a prize for any correct guesses.
